{"id":2088,"date":"2021-01-25T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cchrstl.org\/wordpress\/?p=2088"},"modified":"2024-07-14T05:38:57","modified_gmt":"2024-07-14T10:38:57","slug":"2020-cchr-international-accomplishments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cchrstl.org\/wordpress\/2021\/01\/25\/2020-cchr-international-accomplishments\/","title":{"rendered":"2020 CCHR International Accomplishments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>148.5 million people were reached through CCHR International&#8217;s actions and campaigns, including media articles, TV and documentary views.<\/li><li>12 psychiatric facilities shut down; 16 lawsuits were filed against behavioral facilities and the companies profiting from them and\/or staff in the psychiatric system.<\/li><li>Press releases against for-profit psych hospital abuse alone increased by 133% and the number of media stories almost doubled.<\/li><li>Half a million Americans signed petitions supporting the closure of two major for-profit psychiatric hospital chains.<\/li><li>$132 million in criminal and civil fines against such facilities\u2014up 676% from 2019.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cchrstl.org\/wordpress\/2020\/03\/15\/heres-an-idea-lets-electroshock-children-who-misbehave\/\">Skin electric shock<\/a> used for &#8220;behavior modification&#8221; (punishment) on children banned.<\/li><li>Rev. Fred Shaw, CCHR Int\u2019s Public Affairs Director, established <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cchrtaskforce.org\/\">CCHR\u2019s National Taskforce against Racism and Modern-Day Eugenics<\/a><\/em>, with 81 members now representing clergy, psychologists, civil rights attorneys, educators, radio hosts, NAACP representatives and more.&nbsp;A new website was produced for the Task Force, detailing psychiatry\u2019s long-term role in creating and maintaining modern racism, and psychology\u2019s disastrous role in training police.<\/li><li>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fightforkids.org\/\">Fight For Kids campaign (and website)<\/a>&nbsp;has expanded enormously, with major organizations joining our fight to ban incarceration of children in psychiatric facilities, brutal restraint practices on children,&nbsp;and many more organizations joining the fight to ban electroshock.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>A new website featuring an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cchrmuseum.org\/\">online virtual tour of the Industry of Death Museum<\/a>&nbsp;was created so anyone can tour our museum at any time.<\/li><li>At least 7 U.S. psychs lost their licenses to practice following CCHR Int complaints, which means safeguarding patients\u2019 lives.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And right now, we are speeding up our work on the next steps in the update of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cchrint.org\/psychdrugdangers\/\">psychiatric drugs side effects online searchable data base<\/a>.\u00a0The next steps are exciting ventures that we are ramping up on for year-ending.
