WHO: Join the psychiatric watchdog group Citizens Commission on Human Rights of St. Louis (CCHR) to open a chillingly informative exhibit, “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death.” Free to the public, it warns about the more than 100,000 deaths in psychiatric institutions around the world each year and over 15,000 deaths of children taking prescribed psychiatric drugs in the United States.

WHAT: The exhibit, which is being shown internationally in more than 30 countries, depicts human rights abuses by psychiatry and carries statements from health professionals, academics, legal and human rights experts, and victims of psychiatric brutalities. It traces the origins of psychiatry, the role psychiatrists have played in the oppression of blacks and minorities, the roots of their eugenics programs and the pivotal part they played in the Holocaust. It also reveals how psychiatric drugs are behind the spate of school shooting sprees and how millions of federal dollars allocated to screen American schoolchildren for “mental disorders” could increase both child deaths and acts of school violence. The Food and Drug Administration has warned that psychiatric drugs prescribed to children could cause aggression, hostility, psychosis, mania, homicide, suicide and death.

Touring Exhibit Targets Psychiatry as an “Industry of Death.”

TOURING EXHIBIT TARGETS PSYCHIATRY AS AN “INDUSTRY OF DEATH”

With public distrust of psychiatry mounting—and government agency warnings about psychiatric drugs at an all-time high—a new exhibit in St. Louis, Missouri shows that it could get much worse.

Denouncing the facts that internationally more than 100,000 patients die each year in psychiatric institutions, and every month psychiatric drugs kill an estimated 3,000 people worldwide, the St. Louis Chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR)is launching the Grand Opening of “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death” international touring exhibition and documentaries.

You are invited to hear the featured Keynote Speaker, Mr. William Garrett, Vice President for Information and Public Contact at Applied Scholastics International in Spanish Lake, Missouri, officially open the exhibit at 2:30 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Jamestown Mall in Florissant, Missouri.

The exhibit features display panels that incorporate audio-visual presentations depicting human rights abuses by psychiatry, and carry statements from health professionals, academics, legal and human rights experts, and victims of psychiatric brutalities. The exhibit also addresses a federal plan that would screen the state’s children for “mental illness” that could lead to a threefold increase in the number of children being subjected to the devastating effects of psychotropic drugs.

The exhibit exposes psychiatry as an industry driven entirely by profit. It traces the origins of psychiatry, the role psychiatrists have played in the oppression of blacks and minorities, the roots of their eugenics programs and the pivotal part they played in the Holocaust. It also reveals how psychiatric drugs are behind gun-toting teens today going on shooting sprees, and how millions of federal dollars allocated to screen all 52 million American schoolchildren could increase both child deaths and acts of school violence. People touring the exhibit can sign a petition opposing funding and implementation of mental health screening in schools.

“The touring exhibit shows psychiatry’s deadly ‘treatments’ in graphic detail,” warns CCHR St. Louis chapter spokesperson, Moritz Farbstein, who listed out psychosurgery, shock treatment, deadly restraint and the prevalent inhumane conditions of psychiatric facilities, and the forced drugging of children as young as six months old. “Most importantly, though, this exhibit provides practical guidance for lawmakers, educators, doctors, human rights advocates and private citizens so they can take action in their own spheres to bring psychiatry to account for their abuses.”

The touring “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death” exhibit theme is patterned after a permanent museum by the same name at the Los Angeles headquarters of Citizens Commission on Human Rights International, a psychiatric watchdog group with 300 chapters worldwide. Co-founded in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and Dr. Thomas Szasz, Professor of Psychiatry Emeritus at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, CCHR investigates and exposes psychiatric violations of human rights.

Mr. Farbstein said, “Our exhibit shows very clearly how, in the name of ‘help,’ psychiatry, in fact, destroys lives.”

A sampling of current statistics and facts shown in the exhibit bears this out:

• 20 million children worldwide are taking psychiatric drugs, including 9 million in the United States, which can cause suicide, hostility, violence, mania, strokes, heart attacks, diabetes and death.
• Antipsychotic drug prescriptions for children increased fivefold between 1993 and 2002 in the United States, during which time 45 children died from the drugs.
• In recent years, stimulant drugs have caused 19 child deaths, although as only 1% to 10% of drug adverse reactions are reported, the death toll from children taking antipsychotic drugs, stimulants and antidepressants could be as high as 15,000.
• 10% of American teens (2.3 million) are abusing psychiatric stimulants.
• More than 100,000 patients die each year in psychiatric institutions around the world.
• Psychiatrists are using electroshock, drugs and other barbaric means to torture political dissidents.
• Internationally, psychiatrists kill up to 10,000 people each year with their use of electroshock—460 volts of electricity sent searing through the brain. Three-quarters of all electroshock victims are women.
• Psychiatrists and psychologists have raped 250,000 women. Studies show that 10 to 25 percent of psychiatrists sexually assault their patients; of every 20 of these victims one is likely to be a minor.

With the knowledge of psychiatric fraud and abuse comes the responsibility to do something about it.

It never hurts to re-orient oneself with pro-survival goals and purposes. With so many demands on our personal and group resources (time, money, volunteerism, family, children, health care, political concerns, religious concerns, etc.) it may be helpful to show how CCHR aligns with some of these other demands.

CCHR – Investigating and Exposing Psychiatric Violations of Human Rights

For forty years, CCHR has worked to expose and eradicate psychiatric violations of human rights and restore human rights and dignity to mental health. CCHR’s work will only be complete when psychiatry’s fraudulent practices are eliminated and it is held accountable for its harmful treatments and human rights violations.

Psychiatry and Human Rights

“The very basis of human rights is freedom from false accusation and from brutality and punishment without offense.” — L. Ron Hubbard

Through stigmatizing labels, unscientific diagnoses, easy seizure commitment laws and brutal, depersonalizing “treatments,” thousands around the world suffer under psychiatry’s coercive system every day. It is a system that exemplifies human rights abuse. Modern psychiatry still has no scientific veracity and knows and admits it, but keeps up the charade for the sake of profit.

The Situation

Every 75 seconds someone is involuntarily committed into a mental institution.

More than 100,000 patients die each year in psychiatric institutions.

Psychiatrists continue to use electroshock and drugs to torture political dissidents, and to brainwash people into committing terrorist acts.

One hundred million people worldwide are on psychiatric drugs. Twenty million children worldwide (9 million in the U.S.) are on psychiatric drugs, which have been acknowledged by international drug regulatory agencies to cause suicide, hostility, violence, mania and drug dependence, strokes and sudden death. Psychiatric drugs or other psychiatric treatment may significantly interfere with an individual’s physical, emotional, educational, mental or spiritual development.

An estimated 70 percent of all psychiatric drugs are now prescribed by general physicians rather than by psychiatrists.

With over $80 billion a year in psychiatric drug money at stake, it is impossible to escape the saturation of psychiatric disease mongering in today’s society.

CCHR Goals and Purposes

Investigate and expose psychiatric violations of human rights.

Clean up the field of mental health.

Demand medical doctors become competent.

Recognize psychiatry, psychiatrists, psychology and psychologists who engage in human rights abuses for what they are and abolish them.

Societal Solutions

With the knowledge of psychiatric fraud and abuse comes the responsibility to do something about it and the awareness and expectation of control necessary to accomplish this.

KNOWLEDGE — Having, knowing and applying a technology that works and being able to distinguish this from technologies that do not work (e.g. psychiatry, psychology, bleeding with leeches, restraints, etc.)

RESPONSIBILITY — There are a number of campaigns that align with and handle various societal situations, such as:

Citizens Commission on Human Rights International and CCHR St. Louis

Cleaning up the field of mental health

The Way To Happiness Foundation

A common sense guide to better living

What Are Human Rights?

Making available educational materials so youth and adults can make informed decisions to be drug-free

Applied Scholastics

Vanquishing illiteracy by providing effective education services, training and materials to educators, parents and students to enable individuals to learn how to learn and become self-motivated lifelong learners

Narconon

The largest private drug rehabilitation organization on the planet, salvaging lives from the scourge of drugs

CONTROL — Organizations that provide field control and coordination among these various societal solutions.

What You Can Do

* Increase your knowledge about these problems and their solutions. Obtain and watch your own free copy of the CCHR documentary DVD Making A Killing–The Untold Story of Psychotropic Drugging. Show the DVD to family, friends and associates; get them to do the same. Attend and bring others to Briefings about CCHR and psychiatric fraud and abuse.

replace psychiatric institutions with actual mental health homes or asylums

establish a refund system for failed psychiatric treatments

conduct audits of psychiatric facilities

add more fraud investigation units

require scientific, physical evidence of claimed “mental disorders”

outlaw coercive psychiatric treatments

hold agencies accountable for psychiatric harm

remove government funding from unworkable psychiatric treatments

The Insane Bloat of the Missouri Department of Mental Health Budget from 1971 to 2009 – now over $1.2 Billion

Reports show that:* 10% to 25% of mental health practitioners sexually abuse patients.

* Psychiatry has the worst fraud track record of all medical disciplines.

* The largest health care fraud suit in history [$375 million] involved the smallest sector of healthcare–psychiatry.

* An estimated $20-$40 billion is defrauded in the mental health industry in any
given year.

Download and read the full report “Massive Fraud — Psychiatry’s Corrupt Industry.”

Recommendations

1. Establish or increase the number of psychiatric fraud investigation units to recover funds that are embezzled in the mental health system.

2. Clinical and financial audits of all government-run and private psychiatric facilities that receive government subsidies or insurance payments should be done to ensure accountability; statistics on admissions, treatment and deaths, without breaching patient confidentiality, should be compiled for review.

3. A list of convicted psychiatrists and mental health workers, especially those convicted and/or disciplined for fraud and sexual abuse should be kept on state, national and international law enforcement and police agencies databases, to prevent criminally convicted and/or deregistered mental health practitioners from gaining employment elsewhere in the mental health field.

4. No convicted mental health practitioner should be employed by government agencies, especially in correctional/prison facilities or schools.

5. The DSM and/or lCD (mental disorders section) should be removed from use in all government agencies, departments and other bodies including criminal, educational and justice systems.

6. Establish rights for patients and their insurance companies to receive refunds for mental health treatment which did not achieve the promised result or improvement, or which resulted in proven harm to the individual, thereby ensuring that responsibility lies with the individual practitioner and psychiatric facility rather than the government or its agencies.

7. None of the 374 mental disorders in the DSM/ICD should be eligible for insurance coverage because they have no scientific, physical validation. Governmental, criminal, educational and judicial agencies should not
rely on the DSM or lCD (mental disorders section).

8. Provide funding and insurance coverage only for proven, workable treatments that verifiably and dramatically improve or cure mental health problems.

We think it is time to call psychiatry and psychology for what they are — failed pseudo sciences with no basis in fact, pseudo sciences that harm their recipients and line the pocketbooks of their practitioners.

Report and recommendations on psychiatry subverting the courts and corrective services.

Report and recommendations on psychiatry subverting the courts and corrective services

[Go here to download the full report.]

When psychiatry entered the justice and penal systems, it did so under the subterfuge that it understood man, that it knew not only what made man act as he did, but that it knew how to improve his lot. This was a lie. Psychiatry has had opportunity to prove itself. The experiment has been a miserable failure.

This report is a detailed examination of the fierce assault on the justice system that has occurred over the past six decades — and not only by criminals. There is a hidden influence in our courts, one which, while loudly asserting its expertise and desire to help, has instead betrayed our most deeply held values and brought us a burgeoning prison population at soaring public costs. That influence is psychiatry and psychology.

A major part of the treatment for prison inmates (used less for rehabilitation than for managing and disciplining inmates) is a regimen of powerful psychiatric drugs, despite numerous studies showing that aggression and violence are tied to their use.

In the 1940′s, psychiatry’s leaders proclaimed their intention to infiltrate the field of the law and bring about the “re-interpretation and eventually eradication of the concept of right and wrong.” And they did, with the consequence that today, because of their influence, the system is failing. Now it is up to the many conscientious, hardworking and increasingly disheartened people within the system to realize this and rid it of these destructive intruders.

In this report, we hope to help you understand how this occurred. We show how psychiatry’s ideologies and actions have contributed to today’s failing criminal rehabilitation and increasing crime rate. Finally, we propose to reverse these trends. We trust that the information will help those of goodwill and integrity correct a system that is failing its citizenry. The decent, the productive, the vast majority of us, deserve no less.

Ten million American children are already prescribed drugs that can kill them or predispose them to later illicit drug abuse, violence or suicide.

In 2003 a report on “mental health care” presented to the federal government recommended that all 52 million American schoolchildren be screened for “mental illness,” claiming—without a shred of scientific evidence—that “early detection, assessment, and links with treatment” could “prevent mental health problems from worsening.” Already implemented in many states, screening and “intervention” is to be provided through primary health care facilities, schools, juvenile justice and child welfare—to anyone aged between 3 and 21. Millions of taxpayer dollars have already been allocated to this, which means that America’s already burgeoning numbers of children being prescribed potentially lethal psychiatric drugs could treble within a few years to 30 million.

Drugs Cause Violence, Suicide and Death

Ten million American children are already prescribed drugs that can kill them or predispose them to later illicit drug abuse, violence or suicide.

§ Antidepressants are commonly prescribed as a result of mental health screening, yet dozens of international drug regulatory agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), warn that these drugs cause anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, irritability, hostility, impulsivity, akathisia (severe restlessness), hypomania (abnormal excitement) and mania (psychosis characterized by exalted feelings and delusions of grandeur).

§ In October 2004, the FDA ordered its most stringent “black box” warning that antidepressants also cause suicide in children and adolescents. In November 2005, it ordered labeling changes to the antidepressant, Effexor, warning that it could cause “homicidal ideation.”

§ In 2006, the FDA also revealed that stimulants—prescribed to 6 million American children for so-called “learning” or “behavioral disorders”—could cause hallucinations, psychosis, strokes, heart attacks and death. Already there have been 25 deaths. The public was also warned that there had been 45 child deaths from antipsychotic drugs, largely prescribed for the same “disorders.”

The Prescribed Drugs Behind School Shootings

§ At least 8 out of 13 school shootings have been committed by teens taking these prescribed mind-altering drugs. The medical information of the other teen killers is not publicly available.

§ False claims have been made that screening can prevent suicides. Robert Whitaker, author of Mad in America, says, “They’re pulling numbers out of thin air—falsely presuming that this crisis is about lack of access to drugs and calling for government to provide more and more of what many of us believe is the wrong kind of treatment.”

Screening Doesn’t Prevent Suicide; Drugs Increase It

§ Psychiatrists claim that antidepressants decrease suicide, but according to a Journal of the American Medical Association study, “Despite a dramatic increase in treatment, no significant decrease occurred in suicidal thoughts, plans, gestures, or attempts in the United States during the 1990s.”

§ The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, an independent panel of experts in primary care and prevention, said it had “found no evidence that screening for suicide risk reduces suicide attempts or mortality.”

§ A 2005 study by Dr. David Healy and Graham Aldred from the North Wales Department of Psychological Medicine, Cardiff University, Wales, reported that the studies of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants show that they increase the risk of suicide.

TeenScreen Lacks Reliability and Science

§ One of the recommended screening programs for schools is called TeenScreen™. Dr. David Shaffer, the psychiatrist that developed this, admitted that use of this screening method could mean 84 non-suicidal teens could be referred for further evaluation for every 16 youths “correctly identified.” Kelly Patricia O’Meara, journalist and former congressional staff, warns: “Since when does an 84% failure rate equate to a reliable scientific test? In other words, based on [Dr.] Shaffer’s study of his own test, 84 students out of 100 will be incorrectly identified as suffering from a specific mental illness. One has to wonder if parents of America are informed of this astonishing statistic as part of information to consider when having to decide whether or not to allow the mental health screening test.”

§ The subjective questions in TeenScreen include, “Has there been a time when nothing was fun for you and you just weren’t interested in anything?” and “Has there been a time when you felt you couldn’t do anything well or that you weren’t as good looking or as smart as other people?” Based on the outcome, a further questionnaire looks for 18 psychiatric disorders, based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).

§ The DSM is noted for its lack of scientific credibility and its unreliability. In April 2005, a study published in Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics also determined there were undisclosed financial relationships between the pharmaceutical industry and psychiatrists involved in voting on which “mental disorders” should be included in the DSM. Researchers Lisa Cosgrove, a psychologist from the University of Massachusetts and Sheldon Krimsky, a Tuft University professor, found that drug companies funded 100% of psychiatrists involved in the panels determining “mood disorders,” “depression” and “psychotic disorders,” which account for more than $20 billion in drug sales. Drug companies also fund TeenScreen testing of students.

Parental Consent and Government Funding

§ Parents need to know that unlike medical diseases, there is no x-ray, blood or other physical test to determine if a child has a “mental disorder,” that mental health screening is based on subjective questions, not medical science, and that any “informed consent” form must obtain the above information.

§ Government funding should never be used for mental health-screening programs and should be allocated, instead, to better educational facilities, teachers and tutoring to improve the literacy and educational standards of students.

The U.S. Senate Finance Committee has voted down a measure which would require making the full Health Care Reform bill available for review before the panel votes on it. The committee has a “conceptual” version of the health-care bill rather than a full legislative text of the bill. ”It would seem crazy to most people that we vote on something when we didn’t see the legislative language,” Senator Jim Bunning said, “Well, they’d be right. It is crazy.”

If you find it hard to believe that the U.S. Senate could vote on a bill as important as the Health Care Reform bill without A) Reading the actual text of the entire bill and B) Allowing the PUBLIC to read the entire bill, then you are not alone.

There are measures in the Health Care Reform bill that include major funding for psychiatric ”screening” programs and psychiatric funding that must be eliminated.

The Life Center for a New Tomorrow, located in the beautiful hills of Tennessee, provides a peaceful, restful, non-threatening environment for people mentally challenged.

Mounting evidence shows that psychiatric drugs have side effects often worse than what they are supposed to treat. Many experts have testifed against the danger of psychiatric drugs. More and more people are becoming aware that the psychiatric industry is more a fraud than a real science.

The apparent workability of some drugs comes from the fact that it seems better to have someone sit quietly in a corner after they have been pumped full of drugs rather than seeing the same person banging his head against a wall or screaming all day long. But which state is better? One of a zombie who has no will power or is unable to act anymore, or one who is still trying to get his demons out by screaming or banging his head against the wall? One is still fighting, the other has given up.

The ultimate goal is to get rid of the fraudulent science that is psychiatry, to dispense with harmful psychotropic drugs and to replace them with an alternative that is humane, that takes into consideration the well being of the person – an alternative that would try to lift the person up above their condition instead of burying them with drugs.

It is with that goal in mind that the Life Center for a New Tomorrow was created. Located in the beautiful hills of Tennessee, it provides a peaceful, restful, non-threatening environment for people mentally challenged. People with mental conditions should not be pushed around, tied down, forced to take powerful drugs that make them feel horrible. The solution is: the worse off the condition, the lighter the approach.

We have, at the Life Center, supervisors that are trained in providing a good environment for our guests. We don’t call the people coming here patients, we call them guests. People should be treated with decency, with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, in modern psychiatric institutions such is more often not the case.

In many cases, underlying a mental condition one will find a physical malfunction. For instance, if the hormone system in the body were imbalanced, it might cause mental difficulties. People can have mood swings if their hormones are not properly balanced. There are many physical conditions that could cause a mental condition. We try to help the guests find those conditions with the help of natural doctors who are there to seek the real cause of a problem instead of masking it with a pill.

The Life Center for a New Tomorrow is a new venture but as people find out about it, it has become obvious that such a facility is in high demand. We intend to grow and to open other such facilities. Anyone interested in opening such a center or contributing to the expansion of this one is appreciated. Anyone who has a family member or a friend in need of such a facility should contact us. Please see our web site at http://www.lifecenterforanewtomorrow.com/.
